Django Cachalot

Caches your Django ORM queries and automatically invalidates them. Cachalot officially supports Python 3.7-3.10 and Django 2.2, 3.2, and 4.0-4.1 with the databases PostgreSQL, SQLite, and MySQL. Note: an upper limit on Django version is set for your safety. Please do not ignore it. To start developing, install the requirements and run the tests via tox. Currently, benchmarks are supported on Linux and Mac/Darwin. You will need a database called "cachalot" on MySQL and PostgreSQL. Additionally, on PostgreSQL, you will need to create a role called "cachalot." You can also run the benchmark, and it'll raise errors with specific instructions for how to fix it. Use cachalot for cold or modified <50 times per minutes (Most people should stick with only cachalot since you most likely won't need to scale to the point of needing cache-machine added to the bowl). -

Django's class-based generic views are awesome, let's have more of them. Django-extra-views is a Django package that introduces additional class-based views in order to simplify common design patterns such as those found in the Django admin interface. Supported Python and Django versions: Python 3.5+, Django 2.1–3.2, see tox.ini for an up-to-date list. Add support for pagination in ModelFormSetView and its derivatives, the goal being to be able to mimic the change_list view in Django's admin. Currently, this is proving difficult because of how Django's MultipleObjectMixin handles pagination. -

This project provides a @hook decorator as well as a base model and mixin to add lifecycle hooks to your Django models. Django's built-in approach to offering lifecycle hooks is Signals. However, my team often finds that Signals introduce unnecessary indirection and are at odds with Django's "fat models" approach. Django Lifecycle Hooks supports Python 3.7, 3.8 and 3.9, Django 2.0.x, 2.1.x, 2.2.x, 3.0.x, 3.1.x, and 3.2.x. For simple cases, you might always want something to happen at a certain point, such as after saving or before deleting a model instance. When a user is first created, you could process a thumbnail image in the background and send the user an email. -

A simple app that provides django integration for RQ (Redis Queue). Django integration with RQ, a Redis-based Python queuing library. Django-RQ is a simple app that allows you to configure your queues in django's settings.py and easily use them in your project. Django-RQ allows you to easily put jobs into any of the queues defined in settings.py. You can provide your own singleton Redis connection object to this function so that it will not create a new connection object for each queue definition. If you have django-redis or django-redis-cache installed, you can instruct django_rq to use the same connection information from your Redis cache. This has two advantages, it's DRY and it takes advantage of any optimization that may be going on in your cache setup (like using connection pooling or Hiredis.) -

Do not make your own hard copy of this repository in order to fiddle with internal parts of the wiki -- this strategy will lead you to lose out on future updates with highly improved features and plugins. Django-fsm adds simple declarative state management for Django models. If you need parallel task execution, view, and background task code reuse over different flows - check my new project Django-view flow. Instead of adding a state field to a Django model and managing its values by hand, you use FSMField and mark model methods with the transition decorator. These methods could contain side effects of the state change. You may also take a look at the Django-fsm-admin project containing a mixin and template tags to integrate Django-fsm state transitions into the Django admin. FSM really helps to structure the code, especially when a new developer comes to the project. FSM is most effective when you use it for some sequential steps. Transition logging support could be achieved with help of django-fsm-log package. -

You can add links to the user menu on the top right of the screen using the "usermenu_links" settings key, the format of these links is the same as with top menu, though submenus via "app" are not currently supported and will not be rendered. The side menu gets a list of all installed apps and their models that have admin classes, and creates a tree of apps and links to model admin pages. -
