The AWS Connected Device Framework (CDF) encompasses a set of modular micro-services (referred to simply as modules) to cater to connected devices in each of their lifecycle phases. The framework is particularly well suited for enterprise use cases that require product definition, onboarding and managing a diverse ecosystem of connected devices. If deploying to a production environment, always ensure you are checking out one of the release tags rather than checking out the main branch. This will ensure you do not inadvertently deploy a new version of the framework without testing it first. -

The Device Defender library enables you to send device metrics to the AWS IoT Device Defender Service. This library also supports custom metrics, a feature that helps you monitor operational health metrics that are unique to your fleet or use case. For example, you can define a new metric to monitor the memory usage or CPU usage on your devices. This library has no dependencies on any additional libraries other than the standard C library, and therefore, can be used with any MQTT client library. This library is distributed under the MIT Open Source License. This library has gone through code quality checks including verification that no function has a GNU Complexity score over 8, and checks against deviations from mandatory rules in the MISRA coding standard. Deviations from the MISRA C:2012 guidelines are documented under MISRA Deviations. This library has also undergone static code analysis using Coverity static analysis. -

AWS IoT Device Shadow library

The AWS IoT Device Shadow library enables you to store and retrieve the current state (the “shadow”) of every registered device. The device’s shadow is a persistent, virtual representation of your device that you can interact with from AWS IoT Core even if the device is offline. The device state is captured as its “shadow” within a JSON document. The device can send commands over MQTT to get, update and delete its latest state as well as receive notifications over MQTT about changes in its state. Each device’s shadow is uniquely identified by the name of the corresponding “thing”, a representation of a specific device or logical entity on the AWS Cloud. The AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM) is an open-source framework for building serverless applications. It provides shorthand syntax to express functions, APIs, databases, and event source mappings. With just a few lines per resource, you can define the application you want and model it using YAML. During deployment, SAM transforms and expands the SAM syntax into AWS CloudFormation syntax, enabling you to build serverless applications faster. To get started with building SAM-based applications, use the AWS SAM CLI. SAM CLI provides a Lambda-like execution environment that lets you locally build, test, and debug applications defined by SAM templates or through the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). You can also use the SAM CLI to deploy your applications to AWS. SAM and SAM CLI are open-sourced under the Apache 2.0 license. The AWS SigV4 Library is a standalone library for generating authorization headers and signatures according to the specifications of the Signature Version 4 signing process. Authorization headers are required for authentication when sending HTTP requests to AWS. The DBC framework uses reflection to inspect a type, it then generates source for a proxy object containing checks on predicates in attributes attached to members of the type. Proxy code is compiled into an in-mem assembly used to enforce DBC rules.

Acorn is an app platform that makes it easy to build, share, and run containerized applications. Acorn provides a comprehensive way to describe your application and dependencies in a single file called an Acornfile. The Acornfile is built and packaged up into a single artifact that contains everything needed to deploy your application and can be shared with a link that will allow it's recipients to have a one-click deployment into a sandbox environment. Acorn Sandboxes are free compute environments in the cloud for anyone with a GitHub account to run, test, and develop Acorns. Sandboxes can be used as often as you like to run Acorns for up to 2 hours at a time. Sandbox environments allow for consuming up to 4GB of ram and up to 10GB of storage space. Acorns launched in the sandbox environment can be accessed via a public URL with SSL. The Acorns running in the Sandbox can be interacted with via the Acorn CLI or through the UI.
