An open source flight dynamics & control software library
JSBSim is a multi-platform, general purpose object-oriented Flight Dynamics Model (FDM) written in C++. The FDM is essentially the physics & math model that defines the movement of an aircraft, rocket, etc., under the forces and moments applied to it using the various control mechanisms and from the forces of nature. This Java based Gui flight planner uses the airport and navaid databases of the Flightgear, allowing the user to search for airports and navigation aids and plan flights between them. [Note: Requires Java 1.10 or above] This program is no longer being actively developed or supported. All future work is being undertaken on a port to Rust/Gtk at https://github.com/shartrec/kelpie-flight-planner. But is still in the very early stages.
