    WebTorrent

    WebTorrent

Streaming torrent client for the web

...It's written completely in JavaScript – the language of the web – so the same code works in both runtimes. In node.js, this module is a simple torrent client, using TCP and UDP to talk to other torrent clients. In the browser, WebTorrent uses WebRTC (data channels) for peer-to-peer transport. It can be used without browser plugins, extensions, or installations. It's Just JavaScript™. Note: WebTorrent does not support UDP/TCP peers in browser. To make BitTorrent work over WebRTC (which is the only P2P transport that works on the web) we made some protocol changes. Therefore, a browser-based WebTorrent client or "web peer" can only connect to other clients that support WebTorrent/WebRTC.

    Trystero

    Trystero

Serverless WebRTC matchmaking for painless P2P

...Trystero manages a clandestine courier network that lets your application's users talk directly with one another, encrypted and without a server middleman. To establish a direct peer-to-peer connection with WebRTC, a signalling channel is needed to exchange peer information (SDP). Typically this involves running your own matchmaking server but Trystero abstracts this away for you and offers multiple "serverless" strategies for connecting peers (currently BitTorrent, Firebase, and IPFS).

    IPLD Explorer Components

    IPLD Explorer Components

    React components for ipfs-webui

...There is more work to do to make this a nice set of generic components. The ES5-friendly version of the src dir is generated to the dist dir and the page components are all provided as named exports so you can import them. There are peer dependencies so that the parent app can pick the versions of common deps. You'll need to add relevant deps to your project. These components use redux-bundler and your app will need to use a redux-bundler provider in order to propagate the properties and selectors. You can find a basic example of this in ./dev/devPage.jsx.

Data is content addressed using IPFS, meaning the URI pointing to a piece of data is completely unique to that data (using a content identifier, or CID). IPFS URLs and CIDs can be used in NFTs and metadata to ensure the NFT forever actually refers to the intended data (eliminating things like rug pulls and making it trustlessly...

    torrent-stream

    torrent-stream

The low level streaming torrent engine that peerflix uses

Torrent-stream is a core library that underpins peerflix (and similar tools), providing low-level torrent downloading and streaming capabilities in Node.js. It handles connecting to the BitTorrent swarm, negotiating peer connections, fetching torrent pieces, and exposing individual files inside a torrent as streams. This enables developers to build custom torrent-based applications — not just streaming video, but also file downloaders, partial-download managers, or peer-to-peer file distribution tools. The library supports selecting which files to download (useful in multi-file torrents), serves requested pieces on demand, and allows streaming large files without fully writing them to disk upfront — ideal for memory-efficient or on-the-fly consumption contexts. ...

    peerflix

    peerflix

    Streaming torrent client for node.js

...Peerflix automatically selects the largest file in a multi-file torrent by default (or can list all files for manual selection), and supports passing arbitrary flags to the media player — letting you stream with subtitles, full-screen mode, or other player-specific options. Because it's built on the torrent peer network, it downloads pieces on demand as playback proceeds, which can be more efficient if you only want to watch a single file. Peerflix also exposes programmatic API usage using underlying low-level torrent-streaming logic.
