SRCDB is a simple database and a utility managing the database. SRCDB (db) is designed to keep track of URLs of tarballs [presumably containing source code] and checksums (md5) of the files contained in the taballs. It is implemented as a filesystem subtree. The key to the database consists of 2 fields: name and version separated by dash. In the filesystem the key is implemented as a 'name/version' subtree.

md5cp will traverse a file tree and check the MD5 checksum of each file. If the file is unchanged, it is ignored; if it is changed (or new), its MD5 is updated in the database, and the file is copied to the destination directory. A number of optional parameters can change what happens in addition to the file copy. This utility is useful for situations when file dates are corrupt and rsync cannot be used.
