Disk Inspection and Monitoring
smartmontools contains utility programs (smartctl, smartd) to control/monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (S.M.A.R.T.) built into most modern ATA and SCSI disks. It is derived from smartsuite.
Easy way to use the 1-wire sensors like temperature, voltage and more.
OWFS -- 1-Wire file system. Use the Dallas 1-Wire and iButton chips with standard filesystem commands. Create temperature loggers. Monitor everything. OWHTTPD -- same system, only used as a light weight web server. OWFS is also ported to embedded routers, Mac OSX and Windows. Basically you can use these inexpensive little sensors and other chips with very simple wiring to sense and control the physical environment. The interface is very flexible -- everything from a web browser, to read and writing directly to the chip's "file" to integrating with your programs -- even over the internet. There is a growing number of 1-wire sensors: temperature, voltage, humidity, light, ultraviolet, pressure, thermisters, thermocouples, programmable microcontrollers, relays, lights, LCD panels, etc.

For full, incremental, compressed and encrypted backups or archives
DAR is a command-line backup and archiving tool that uses selective compression (not compressing already compressed files), strong encryption, may split an archive in different files of given size and provides on-fly hashing. DAR knows how to perform full, differential, incremental and decremental backups. It provides testing, diffing, merging, listing and of course data extracting from existing archives. Archive internal's catalog, allows very quick restoration of a even a single file from a very large, eventually sliced, compressed and encrypted archive. Dar saves *all* UNIX inode types, takes care of hard links, sparse files as well as Extended Attributes (MacOS X file forks, Linux ACL, SELinux tags, user attributes), it has support for ssh and is suitable for tapes and disks (floppy, CD, DVD, hard disks, ...) more details at: http://dar.linux.free.fr/doc/Features.html

Delay-Tolerant Networking suitable for use in spacecraft
The Interplanetary Overlay Network (ION) software distribution is an implementation of Delay-Tolerant Networking (DTN) architecture as described in Internet RFC 4838. It includes implementations of Bundle Protocol, Licklider Transmission Protocol, and other protocols that are intended to be usable in embedded environments including spacecraft flight computers. If you're interested in the use of Delay-Tolerant Networking in space flight operations, check out the Interplanetary Networking Chapter of the Internet Society: ipnsig.org. NOTES: 1. Still investigating FreeBSD anomalies. If you run into problems, please post to ion-dtn-support. 2. A new ION Android developer's kit is now available. Download the Linux ION distribution, then look at the README in arch-android. 3. Two new Windows installers are also now available. The new default Windows download is for 64-bit Windows. For 32-bit Windows, please download ION-Installer32-3-6-1.zip.
The Sleuth Kit is a C++ library and collection of open source file system forensics tools that allow you to, among other things, view allocated and deleted data from NTFS, FAT, FFS, EXT2, Ext3, HFS+, and ISO9660 images.

Calendar App To Perform Date-Time Related Functions
Github - https://github.com/shivammathur/C-CPP-Calendar C-CPP Calendar app is a easy to use app to do all the functions that a calendar is used for. The app is very handy and extremely better than using a physical calendar. It is available as both x86 and a x64 versions. The app can display day of any date in the Gregorian calendar (1753 - 9999). It can be used to display calendar of a month of a year. The most awesome feature is that it displays the calendar of a year in a well formatted layout like a paper calendar and also generate a text file for the same. It is very handy when it displays the dates in a month on which a day occurs in that month. C-CPP Calendar provides personalized user account with password protection (MD5 based). C-CPP Calendar is compatible with Windows 2000 up-to Windows 10. Though no official support is there for Linux or mac, it was tested to be work

A whole-program optimizing compiler for Standard ML
MLton is a whole-program optimizing compiler for Standard ML. MLton generates small executables with excellent runtime performance, utilizing untagged and unboxed native integers, reals, and words, unboxed native arrays, fast arbitrary-precision arithmetic based on GnuMP, and multiple code generation and garbage collection strategies. In addition, MLton provides a feature rich Standard ML programming environment, with full support for SML97 as given in The Definition of Standard ML (Revised), a number of useful language extensions, a complete implementation of the Standard ML Basis Library, various useful libraries, a simple and fast C foreign function interface, the ML Basis system for programming with source libraries, and tools such as a lexer generator, a parser generator, and a profiler.

Software Unit Tests (Language Independent Approach)
Automation of Unit and System Tests. Tests can be implemented in any language and on many platforms. The flexible approach enables the inclusion of many types of tests, such as memory leak checks (using valgrind), coding rule checks, complexity checks, etc. Tests are run by a simple call to hwut in a base directory of a project. In particular for C, HWUT supports make file generation using 'sos' and 'sols' modes. Remote control-able function stubs may be generated using the 'stub' mode. Test cases can be generated using the 'gen' mode, and state machine walkers by the 'sm_walker' mode. Over the last decade HWUT has matured towards a full fledged unit test tool for a wide variety of applications.
