  • FractalNow Icon

    FractalNow

    Fast, advanced, multi-platform fractal generator

FractalNow provides users with tools to generate pictures of various types of fractals quickly and easily. It is made of both a command line tool, FractalNow, and a graphical tool, QFractalNow. The graphical tool, based on Qt library, allows users to explore fractals intuitively and generate pictures. Both tools are entirely multi-threaded and implement advanced algorithms and heuristics that make computation very fast compared to most existing free fractal generators.

  • librsb Icon

    librsb

A shared memory parallel sparse matrix library including Sparse BLAS.

librsb is a library for sparse matrix computations featuring the Recursive Sparse Blocks (RSB) matrix format. This format allows cache efficient and multi-threaded (that is, shared memory parallel) operations on large sparse matrices. The most common operations necessary to iterative solvers are available, e.g.: matrix-vector multiplication, triangular solution, rows/columns scaling, diagonal extraction / setting, blocks extraction, norm computation, formats conversion. The RSB format is especially well suited for symmetric and transposed multiplication variants. On these variants, librsb has been found to be faster than Intel MKL's implementation for CSR. Most numerical kernels code is auto generated, and the supported numerical types can be chosen by the user at build time. librsb implements the Sparse BLAS standard, as specified in the BLAS Forum documents.

  • Distributed MultiThreaded Checkpointing

    Checkpoint/Restart functionality for Linux processes

DMTCP (Distributed MultiThreaded Checkpointing) transparently checkpoints a single-host or distributed computation in user-space -- with no modifications to user code or to the O/S. It works on most Linux applications, including Python, Matlab, R, GUI desktops, MPI, etc. It is robust and widely used (on Sourceforge since 2007). Among the applications supported by DMTCP are MPI (various implementations), OpenMP, MATLAB, Python, Perl, R, and many programming languages and shell scripting languages. With the use of TightVNC, it can also checkpoint and restart X-Window applications. The OpenGL library for 3D-graphics is supported through a special plugin. It also has strong support for HPC (High Performance Computing) environments, including MPI, SLURM, InfiniBand, and other components.

  • jdbcsql

    Command-line sql JDBC tool

jdbcsql is a small command-line tool written in JAVA and can be used on all platforms, for which JRE 8 is available. To connect to a specific DBMS the tool uses its JDBC driver. The current version supports the following DBMS: mysql, oracle and postgresql. Other systems can easily be added by the user. The result of the executed 'select' query is displayed in CSV format (by default complying to rfc4180, but other standards are supported too). When there is an error the tool stops with exit code 1 and the error message is output on stderr. jdbcsql is created with a main purpose to be used in shell-scripts. Relatively easy to configurate, this tool is suitable for queries ‘select’, ‘update’ and ‘delete’. I think that is not suitable for a large number of requests, like 'insert'.
