In Avida, evolution acts on populations of self-replicating computer programs. These "digital organisms" experience natural selection through random mutations and resource competition. See the project website for more information and bug tracking.
Implementations for the Revised Report language
This project offers open source implementations for UNESCO/IFIP's Algol 68 (the Revised Report language). The project offers two implementations: Implementation 1 is Algol68G: a recent checkout hybrid compiler/interpreter by Marcel van der Veer, supporting arbitrary arithmetic, partial parametrisation, complex numbers, POSIX threads, GNU plotutils, GNU scientific library, curses, sound, TCP sockets, RegEx and PostgreSQL. Inplementation 2 is algol68toc, a port by Sian Mountbatten of the vintage Algol68RS (UK Defense Research Agency) compiler. The implementation emits C code.
This project is for the restoration and further development of a variety of orphaned roguelike games. Primarily rogue, xrogue, UltraRogue and Advanced Rogue but other roguelike games may be adopted by this project as required.
A full featured, object-oriented, multi-platform C# wrapper for the curses terminal control library.
A rewrite of Noah Morgan's classic roguelike game Larn (1986). NLarn tries to maintain the atmosphere and story of the original game while improving the gameplay by using state-of-the-art roguelike technology and a simplified user interface.
MultiMail is an offline mail packet reader for Unix and other systems. It currently supports the Blue Wave, QWK, OMEN, OPX and SOUP formats. It has a full screen, color user interface, built with the curses library.
ncurses VCard 3.0 contact management editor
A vcard 3.0 contact management editor developed for ncurses. It can: - load a vcf file - show all the contacts in a list - show more information about a single contact - perform a simple search in the contacts list - edit contacts - support UTF-8 (currently not on WIN32, though I'm not sure WIN32 console is actually able to support UTF-8) - convert the VCF(s) to Pine/Alpine addressbook format - import images from files as contacts photos The idea is based upon rolo (which you can find at SourceForge.net, too), but no original code remains. What is still not working: - showing a pretty screen for the contact details (for now it simply dump the information in vcard format)
BASIC interpreter for the standard (SUS) character screen handling library, which fully corresponds to the Tiny BASIC standard. The code is thread-safe and can be embedded into other code. Can be used as a game or a minimalist challenge.
GGI stands for "General Graphics Interface", and it is a project that aims to develop a reliable, stable and fast graphics system that works everywhere. We want to allow any program using GGI to run on any platform requiring at most a recompile.
eFTE is a lightweight, extendable, folding text editor geared toward the programmer. eFTE is a fork of FTE with goals of taking FTE to the next step, hence, Enhanced FTE. The upstream for the source code is on GitHub as of September 2015.
multi-trhead workload efficiency test
swet (sustained workload & efficiency test) is a portable benchmark for POSIX and BSD operating systems with multi-thread and multi-process capabilities and flexible, powerful report options.
ZeST is a TUI program for stressing filesystems/disks. Depnding only on curses, it works on any POSIX system. It uses fork()s and a named fifo for IPC. Individual process can be killed if one were to start too many and this would not interrupt the test.

Classical game of snake.
This is a cross-platform implementation of the classical game called snake. It is written in C++ and it uses ncurses and OpenGL/GLUT. As of right now, this is only a sample project that I created to learn how to use Git and other open-source technologies, as well as to get some actual programming expirience. In the future, I am planning to take this project much further then the limits of a simple game of snake, if time permits. Feel free to join me in the development of this project.
Swop will be a character-cell-based word processor that internally uses a "streaming" architecture reminiscent of WordPerfect and will also include the "Reveal Codes" feature.
