PyBiff is an email notification utility for the system tray, periodically checking email accounts for new messages. The current status is indicated by the icon in the tray, and a custom command can be executed and a sound played when new mail arrives. Another custom action can be performed by clicking the icon. PyBiff is implemented in Python 3 using PyQt6. -

System tray unread mail checker for Linux
CheckMails periodically looks for unread mails and displays the total number of unread mails in the system tray icon. Several mailboxes can be configured. The number of unread mails for each mailbox is detailed in a notification that appears when clicking on the icon and after a check. This application supports only IMAP protocol with SSL encryption. The connection information for each mailbox is stored in an encrypted file using a master password. -

This is a simple gmail atom reader, it uses PyQt4. Gmail Atom Reader will show an icon on your tray, and will populate it's menu with all your unread messages. A notification window will show up with details of your unread messages.
