This utility was born out of the fact that on a couple of occasions, through no fault of my own, I have had domain name records (DNS records) expire, and I needed a utility to give a rapid warning when this was either about to happen or had recently happened. This utility is run regularly as a background cron job and sends me an email to tell me the domains are still live. -

pyFreeDnsUpdate
FreeDNS update python script
pyFreeDnsUpdate is a command line python script that updates the FreeDNS record for a given domain to the current public facing IP address detected by the local host. It requires a one time edit to configure a list of domain|api_key pairs, and after that it can be run as a chron job to perform a sync check and update push if needed. Activity is logged on a local text file, and DEBUG level can be enabled in case of troubles. -

NovaDNS is a tool to manage lots of zone files (domains) from a user friendly (web)interface. Zone data and user data are stored in a MySQL database and new zonefiles (for Bind) are generated periodically from a cron job.
