OpenDDS is an open source implementation of the Object Management Group (OMG) Data Distribution Service (DDS), providing a publish/subscribe middleware solution for real-time distributed systems. OpenDDS includes development and run-time tools. Full product information, source code, documentation, build instructions, and license information are available from http://www.opendds.org. Commercial consulting, support, and training for OpenDDS are available. OpenDDS is in production use...

The Grid Programming Environment (GPE) turns a collection of computer systems into a Grid and provides graphical user interfaces and interoperable GridBeans for application development. It supports Globus Toolkit and Unicore-based infrastructures.

Create your own distributed computer that can distributed javascript based applications to any computer with a web browser, headless browser or node.js installation. For more information and updates please see our website - http://reorjs.com.

TaskManager is an open source infrastructure software for distributing and managing calculation jobs in a Unix computer cluster environment. The TaskManager was designed to control the utilization of a set of hosts even if you are not the administrator of the system. The hosts are embedded in a Unix environment and the user's home directories are mounted on each host. The hosts may have different numbers of CPUs/cores and different kernels. Keep in mind that a user is able to log into each...

Cube Platform is a distributed system over p2p based in Java. Cube Platform allow users to share CPU-resources allowing the creation of computer alliances for resolve a big problems.

This project aims to provide a reliable cloud computing system, able to work with cloud computing framework existing today. Developed and maintained by Alecsandru Patrascu, Computer Science, University Politehnica of Bucharest

JAva DIstributed Framework provides a secure and flexible Framework for distributed grid and volunteer computing applications (separate client & server Framework). For more informations take a look at the project page http://jadif.sourceforge.net

ghack ("grid hack") is meant to allow small groups of people to voluntarily share their computer resources to work on collective problems. Goals are: easy to use (e.g. scientific coders), easy to deploy (e.g. no elevated priviliges or open firewall ports

The MathForge Application Environment provides users a broad range of Java-based math tools (calculation, visualization, presentation and communication via MathML) and allows developers to leverage existing code while extending MathForge.

Dominatrix is a general purpose framework for building dynamic distributed projects. It is fairly stable, easy to use and extend, simple to install, and can be used for most any project that requires computation across multiple machines.

Some example exercises about distributed systems in computer science. Some code examples for Java RMI, Java Server Socket and Peer to Peer Systems written in Java. Probably using the Hibernate framework and some other Java Technologies.
