Learn Linux sysadmin from Windows PC using this Debian Virtual Box
An Oracle Virtual Box image, packaged as an appliance to be downloaded and run anywhere. Created on 32-bit Windows XP & Oracle Virtual box 4.2.6. The VM is a Debian Squeeze 6.0.7 i386. md5sum: 85ab2066b7381af12b741a3d4dedf6c9 This file is to be specifically used along with this other great project: http://nixsrv.com/llthw There is a 64bit Debian image similar to mine in that link above. To benefit those like me who still have 32bit machines, I have created and uploaded this image. This is your fast track to getting up and running in no time. I hope it benefits people with 32bit machines who want to take advantage of the tutorial ASAP. If you found the image helpful, please leave a short note of appreciation (and a thanks to the tutorial maker). I would like that very much. Thanks and Ciao.

Description How To Use: Cardito.exe <Folder Path> e.g. Cardito.exe "D:\Card Data" Pros: Very Quick and Lightweight Cardito is a simple Credit Card Number searching tool. It does a simple recursive scan of all files in the specified directory and checks the condition of the found numbers to Luhn's algorithm. It does not require installation. It has to be placed locally on the machine which is to be scanned. Cardito is small yet powerful. Currently, it supports the following file formats to be scanned: txt, csv, log, xml, htm, html, rtf. If you feel there is a need to add any more formats which you encounter, it is very simple to do so from the source. Also, you can raise a ticket for the same. If I feel there is an increasing demand for some file formats to be added to the executable, I'll sure compile it in the exe and release it. Enjoy using Cardito and drop your reviews good or bad. :)
Easy to use firewall for linux beginners.
New improved iptables tool, based on my earlier project Easy Linux Firewall, but rewritten from scratch using Perl. It's a simple rewrite for now, but i am working on adding some new features like. Some of the improvements will be web administration panel, automatic filtering daemon, TCP listener providing easy to use API so you can integrate it on many servers and centralize them in to one Web interface to control all of them. I am open to new ideas and also any kind of contributors, because I'm working on this alone and it isn't easy, so you are welcome to help.
SSH Key Management solution
SSH Access Manager is a comprehensive access security management platform that permits IT professionals to easily establish and maintain an enterprise-wide SSH access security solution from a central location. It enables a team of system administrators to centrally manage and deploy ssh keys. This app is intended to be used in rather large environnements where access to unix accounts are handled with ssh keys. SSH Access Manager allows you to maintain user public keys. You can organise these keys with group of keys called keyring. Then SSH Access Manager will deploy the keys and/or keyrings to specified unix accounts / groups / servers. User can be read from a LDAP directory.

This project aims at recording and analysing home's electrical power consumption.
A web UI to Arexx temperature loggers
This project aims at displaying and analysing data recorded by Arexx temperature loggers on Unix operating systems. Although the code is currently implemented for etching data from Arexx loggers, the UI itself is completely independent and can be reused with other temperature databases.
C-Lesh is a game programming language for 2D games.
C-Lesh is a game programming language for 2D games - mainly arcade and platform games. When combined with the Super Mario World (SMW) engine you can create awesome 2D platform games like Super Mario World. This language evolved from a "clone" of TI-BASIC which I began developing when I was having memory (segmentation fault) bugs with C. C-Lesh lacks memory allocation and destruction. There is no need to use pointers and you can never get memory leaks or program crashes caused by memory leaks. As C-Lesh is somewhat primitive you may like it if you are into C. I'd say its a step up from C for 2D games. Everything is set - all you need is a sprite sheet and some programming knowledge.

Fully Automate ANY Process with *Persistent* SSH/SFTP from One Host
FullAuto is a groundbreaking secure programming framework that enables FULL API access to any number of simultaneous persistent SSH and SFTP connections to remote resources and devices. With FullAuto, connections are PERSISTANT enabling state preservation of file system navigations, environment manipulations, and user context shifting. Output and error messages from remote commands are returned accurately from both STDOUT and STDERR channels. With FullAuto persisent SSH/SFTP connections, automated processes can be DYNAMIC, intelligent and responsive - precisely in the same manner that highly trained professionals work with SSH/SFTP tools, to perform countless tasks manually. FullAuto works with the naked protocol, and connects directly with ordinary SSH/SFTP servers that already exist on nearly every UNIX platform, and many Windows and MAC systems. NO OTHER REMOTE SOFTWARE IS NEEDED. FullAuto is written entirely in Perl and has been tested on Linux, UNIX and Windows with Cygwin.

An application to control DIY home automation products
This Perl/PostgreSQL application enables to control various do-it-yourself home automation products (such as air conditioning units or electric radiators). The code is highly portable for used with other DB (for example MySQL). It may be used as a scheduler with light modifications. User Interface is provided by the Home Automation Control Center UI project (https://sourceforge.net/projects/climcontrolui)
A tool to search post-translational modifications in a blind mode
ModST (pronounced as modest) is a tool to search post-translational modifications (PTMs) in mass spectrometry data in an unrestrictive manner. It can search for hundreds of modification without any user provided information for variable modifications. Due to data level parallelization implemented through perl it is fast, portable and easy to use to identify and analyse PTMs in MS/MS data.
Post FTP upload script logging to database
PurePostPro is a utility that is run via the PureFTPd uploadscript facility. It's one solution to centrally handling uploads from a number of users, and extensive logging is provided by a Perl+MySQL combination. The key feature of the software is that duplicate files should be detected, and incoming files have an MD5 checksum automatically generated. All upload details, including timestamp, uploaded-by, checksum, filename and location are all stored in a 2-table database. The software should not impact the FTP server software as it is run separately. Coming soon will be a complementary application that will run as a daemon and scan the logging database on a regular basis. Specific processing/handling will be available on a per-user basis. The package includes all documentation and scripts to help set up the MySQL database. The script is easy to configure for your own needs. Some Perl DBI knowledge is useful if you intend to modify the script, but not essential.
Redhat Linux OVM System Performance Monitoring
It's a very light Redhat Linux and Oracle OVM System Performance Monitoring tool written in Perl using rrdtool for Database and Graphing. Allows you to query the RRD database given a set of dates and generates a web based graphs. Easy to install. Uses less disk space than most performance monitoring tool. Data of each host monitored is kept for 2 years and occupy less that 25 MB of disk space.
Nagios/Icinga plugin that checks disk usage via snmp
This plugin could be added as an external check to your nagios/icinga installation to provide detail information about disks usage on your hosts. See README.txt for details
A tool to correlate gene expression changes with epigenetic changes
Changes in cellular gene expression may occur in response to stimuli or development. There may be simultaneous changes in histone marks and transcription factor binding. How these relate to gene expression changes is often unclear. This tool was written to detect correlations between changes in gene expression between two conditions and concurrent changes in histone marks or transcription factor binding events. The user supplies three files. 1. A tab delimited file of gene expression with HUGO gene symbol in the first column and fold change (typically log base 2) in the second column. 2. A bed file of genomic sites showing dynamic signal between the two conditions used for gene expression testing, with fold change in signal in the 4th column. 3. A bed file of the genomic coordinate of genes with a HUGO gene symbol in the 4th column. Dynamic sites from file 2 are then annotated to the nearest gene. Potentially using TSS instead of whole gene body can help.
