It can also: restore files; permanently delete files that were rmw'ed more than xx number of days ago; skip files or directories that have a "PROTECT" directive in the configuration file; and append a unique string to the filenames so they won't be overwritten (duplication protection).

C API to control NexStar compatible telescopes
This library implements the serial commands supported by the Celestron NexStar hand control (HC) and SkyWatcher/Orion SynScan HC. This applies to the Celestron: NexStar GPS, NexStar GPS-SA, NexStar iSeries, NexStar SE Series, NexStar GT, CPC, SLT, Advanced-VX, Advanced-GT, CGE, CGEM etc. SkyWatcher: EQ5, HEQ5, EQ6 (Pro), AZ-EQ5 GT, AZ-EQ6 GT, EQ8 etc. and the corresponding Orion mounts. Communication to the hand control is 9600 bits/sec, no parity and one stop bit via the RS-232 port on the base of the hand control. Communication can be established over TCP/IP if nexbridge is running on the computer connected to the telescope. MODULAR: Autonomous Computation of Modularity
MODULAR is a software developed to perform rapid and automatic calculation of modularity in sets of networks. MODULAR reads a set of text files with bipartite or adjacency binary matrices representing networks. The software can identify and define modules by two different modularity metrics widely used in studies with different types of networks such as social, ecological and biochemical networks. In order to find the network partition that maximizes modularity, the software offers five optimization methods to the user: simulated annealing, fast greedy, spectral partitioning, a hybrid of fast greedy and simulated annealing, and a hybrid of spectral partitioning and simulated annealing. The software is implemented in C language and it uses the igraph library for complex network research.

The encoding agent for MediaCoder distributed transcoding
MediaCoder Agent is used to form a distributed transcoder with MediaCoder. It is light-weight, portable and open-source. It receives video frames sent by MediaCoder via TCP, encodes them with the requested video encoder and sends encoded elementary stream back to MediaCoder. There is no disk I/O in this procedure.

It is adapted (by the same authors) from code that was originally supplied on a CD with the first edition of the book  and is now made available under the GPL3 license. In brief, we encourage everyone to use the software in your studies and research, to study and modify the source-code and to share it widely. However, you are not permitted to include any of our code in a closed-source project.
Parallel simulators for Membrane Computing on the GPU
Membrane Computing is a new research area (within Natural Computing) that aims to provide computing devices abstracted from the functioning and structure of living cells. These devices are called P systems. The objective of this project (PMCGPU) is to bring together all the researchers working on the development of parallel simulators for P systems, specially those using the GPU (e.g. CUDA, OpenCL, etc). Other parallel platforms are also welcome (multicore and manycore, FPGAs, etc). This project has been initiated by the Research Group on Natural Computing (Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, University of Seville). PMCGPU was born inside the P-Lingua project, of the same research group. PMCGPU is a GNU project, so all the applications developed within it are released under the GPLv3 license.
