now gnu-ized A raytracer does not require custom code for (shadows, mirrors) like GL: it uses physics to simulate light to make realistic images, leaving one to specify only what is in the scene. (at a cost of speed) Rayshade is a 1990's raytracer, a great one back then (and still useful). Rayshade has an excellent easy to read yet informative User's Guide that other's could not help but copy from. Rayshade has no GUI but as a text language it's simple and elegant. The Utah Raster Toolkit liburt is a "depends" (install before Rayshade) unless using Rayshade-Mathematica (reads raw RGB). 4.0.9 is patched for "ray4mm" to partly allow alpha channel without URT (a simple change allows chan setting in img header if used). Allows "textsurf" to do clear background textures, see ERRATA) Rayshade Quick Reference is visible on the Files page.

a network-enabled package manager for FreeDOS
FDNPKG is an online update tool for the FreeDOS operating system. It allows to install, remove and update software on a FreeDOS installation using online (http) or local (on disk/cdrom) repositories. It is written by Mateusz Viste for the FreeDOS™ project, but can be used on other DOS systems as well. FDNPKG means "FreeDOS Network Package manager".

A lightweight, high-performance Internet Relay Chat server
IRCD-Hybrid is a lightweight, high-performance Internet Relay Chat server.
A robust, reliable and easy to install gopher server
Motsognir is a robust, reliable and easy to install open-source gopher server for Unix-like systems (Linux, BSD, and anything else POSIX-compliant). The Motsognir gopher server is meant to be used for small projects (like home servers), but should scale well on bigger architectures as well. All the configuration is done via a single configuration file, which has very reasonable defaults. That makes Motsognir easily maintainable, and allows the administrator to have a full knowledge of what features are allowed/enabled on the server, and what's not. Motsognir supports server-side CGI applications and PHP scripts, is plainly compatible with UTF-8 filesystems, and is entirely written in ANSI C without external dependencies.
A simple, fast and 8086-compatible hex editor
uHex is a simple and fast, multiplatform hex editor. It's primarily written for DOS, but compiles on POSIX just as well. uHex has been written with care to work fast even on an 8086 CPU, providing support for large files (up to 2 GiB) while using minimal amounts of memory. "uHex" stands for "micro Hex" (it should actually be spelled µHex, but DOS operating systems do not allow non-ASCII symbols in filenames, thus the official name became just "uHex"). uHex supports several video text modes (80x25, 80x43, 80x50.. and any other, as long as it has at least 80 columns), both in color and black & white modes. Hardware requirements (DOS version) uHex has very low requirements. It runs on anything that provides: - an 8086/8088 compatible CPU, - a MS-DOS 2.0 compatible operating system, - ca. 20K of free conventional memory, - an 80 columns video mode.

a multiplatform, full-featured GameBoy classic emulator
zBoy is a multiplatform GameBoy emulator that provides a load/save feature, can perform PCX screenshots either manually or automatically (every few seconds) and emulates an internal battery for ROMs that were designed to use one (this allows to use the internal save option provided by such games, remember highest scores, etc). zBoy supports some additionnal features, too, like intelligent saving of hi-scores for some games that aren't able to save their hi-scores table by themselves because of the lack of a battery-backed RAM on the cartridge, and improving screen's resolution output using graphic algorithms like Scale2x, Scale3x, eagle... Here you can see a comparison between graphic algorithms supported by zBoy. This is also one of the very few GameBoy emulators that provides a 2-gameboys link emulation, which makes it possible to play some games in 2-players mode on a LAN. The emulator is available for Linux, DOS and Windows (but should compile for other systems, too).
Exam & quiz web platform written as a CGI application
Poludnitsa is a free exam/quiz platform. I wrote it because I needed a simple and robust platform to test a bunch of people. Poludnitsa is a CGI application, therefore it requires a web server (like Apache, nginx, etc). It's primarily written (and runs) on Linux platforms, however, being written in pure ANSI C makes it easily portable to virtually any platform. Poludnitsa stores all information in a PostgreSQL database. The installation of Poludnitsa is quite straigth-forward: it's as simple as putting two *.cgi files on your Linux web server, creating a text file with the SQL configuration that Poludnitsa should use, and access the administration GUI which will provide a wizard for initial configuration (detailed instructions are provided within the package).
a 16-bit Sudoku game for DOS and 8086/8088 CPUs
Sudoku86 is a Sudoku game designed to run under DOS. It is a 16-bit, real mode application using CGA or VGA video output (320x200). It has been compiled using Turbo C 2.0.1. Sudoku86 comes with 100 sudoku grids. Sudoku86 requires: - 50K of free conventional memory - a 8086/8088 compatible CPU - a CGA, MCGA or VGA graphic card - a two-button mouse - a DOS 3.0+ compatible operating system
locales configuration tool for DOS

a (simple) Sokoban game
Simple Sokoban is a (simple) Sokoban game aimed at playability and portability across systems. It is written in ANSI C89, using SDL for user interactions. I developed it natively under x86_64 Linux, but it should compile just fine on virtually anything that has a C compiler and the SDL library.
