This latest release is compatible with Ubuntu's "saucy" software suite and this project's code name is "Saucy SUZIE". This project provides virtual machines for qcow2
Welcome! This project provides virtual machines for qcow2 for several free and/or open-source operating systems, such as GNU/Linux for testing, security and/or entertainment purposes. In most cases, we've done a minimal setup, to let you alter the images to your own needs and learn how to use the operating systems. We will try to provide instructions for key tasks (for example, installing Guest Additions) for each image. Updates on new images and problems will be provided in the News page. We would like you to subscribe to our newsfeed or follow us by by e-mail, either. We hope you enjoy your stay.

Ready-to-use appliance for GIS, Data Mining and Analysis, Modelling...
GISBox by Citiviz is a ready-to-use virtual appliance containing an assortment of powerful, free and open source GIS, Data Mining and Analysis, Modelling and Programming software and packages. The pre-configured and tested GISBox allows you to try and use in few minutes a variety of software used by data scientists, engineers, physicists, mathematicians, geomatics engineers, and geographers from around the globe, without installing anything more than once the Oracle VirtualBox™ software (https://www.virtualbox.org/) on your Linux, Windows or Mac computer. The GISBox is free and open, allowing it to be freely distributed, duplicated and passed around, even with your own datasets and in-house applications. RhinoLINUX based on a Debian upstream codebase.
RhinoLINUX based on a Debian upstream codebase. Fundamentally we try to get the same overall effect of the Ubuntu-based Main Edition, as this release uses the MATE desktop environment. Debian proves to have low resource requirements, and performance benefits. It is able to run comfortably on a 486 PC with 256 Mb of RAM! The performance is even greater if one uses the multicore PAE i686 kernel. The disadvantage is that certain applications and tools have better equivalents in Ubuntu, or worse, no Debian version of the Ubuntu release. This means that the development and the look and feel of certain components had to be practically custom-built. We think the end-result was worth it. And you?
andIsis brings the USGS's Isis 3 to Windows via hybrid virtualization!
The U.S. Geological Survey's Integrated Software for Imagers and Spectrometers (Isis) is not available for Windows, yet some Windows-only software is often used in conjunction with Isis, including Esri's ArcGIS® and BAE Systems' SOCET SET®. To address this situation, I developed andIsis (from the excellent software coLinux and andLinux) to bring Isis 3.3.1 to Windows via 1) a wizard-style setup executable 2) visually seamless, hybrid virtualization of a Linux kernel 3) a feature-rich utility to communicate with the Linux shell 4) an interface for managing Isis 3 The result is a completely out-of-the-box end user experience comparable to that on any platform that natively supports Isis; the ability to call both Windows and Linux software, like Isis, from a single script; and cooperative management of system resources that is superior to traditional virtualization and perhaps even more efficient. 32-bit Alpha ETA: fall 2012 64-bit Alpha ETA: early 2013 (?)
