Swend (short for Swap Endianness) is a series of C/C++ compile-time macros designed to provide both portability and speed when byte-swapping data. The header is designed in such a way to provide platform specific optimizations in inline-assembly when compiled on specific hardware to maximize efficiency (important when used in graphics applications), while defaulting to a pure C99 version of the macros when compiled on a platform that it is not optimized for.
