Maxima is a computer algebra system comparable to commercial systems like Mathematica and Maple. It emphasizes symbolic mathematical computation: algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and much more. For example, Maxima solves x^2-r*x-s^2-r*s=0, giving the symbolic results [x=r+s, x=-s]. It can also calculate with exact integers and fractions, native floating-point, and high-precision big floats. Maxima has user-friendly front-ends, an online manual, plotting commands, and numerical libraries. It features its own programming language, and many users have contributed useful packages in various areas over the decades. It is GPL-licensed and largely written in Common Lisp. Executables can be downloaded for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android; source code is also available. An active community maintains and extends the system. PLplot is a cross-platform, scientific graphics plotting library that supports math symbols and human languages (via UTF-8 user input strings); plot capabilities for multiple non-interactive plot file formats and in multiple interactive environments; and bindings for multiple computer languages.

OzGIS is an extensive mapping system for the analysis and display of geographically referenced data. Map data are downloaded from Census bureaux and map agencies or extracted from your own databases. The system can be used to to support management decisions associated with, for example, government planning, marketing, sales, site and personnel location, advertising and research. Systems for Windows, Mac and Ubuntu, source code, sample data files and manuals are included. DOWNLOAD to your Downloads directory and unzip to Downloads/OzGIS ; see the Files tab for installation instructions. See the installation manual or "OzGIS Installation" Youtube video for help with getting started. I am unable to show OzGIS to you, so suggest that you search for "OzGIS lloyd" on Youtube for demonstration videos or "OzGIS" on Pinterest for example maps. TkTable is a full-featured 2D table widget for Tk. It supports images, embedded windows, varying colors and fonts, and more. Also here is Vu, a Tk widget extension that includes a pie, dial, spinbox and more, and Tile, a themed widget set for Tk.
