The advantages by using CSV as input and output are the following: - Many applications allow an export of its data to CSV or Excel(were it could be saved to CSV) - It is possible to pre- and postprocess the data, e.g removing version numbers before comparing - It is easy to create CSV data from logfiles and other resources by using unix tools like sed or awk - CSV can be loaded into other applications, especially Excel, were it can be formatted by macros for analyzing.

...Dudde was a genealogy software published by Data Becker as part of the "Goldene Serie" series, back in the 1990's. Especially in Germany this tool penetrated the market to some extent. Generating a project and filling in all relatives and ancestors resulted in an .ahn file. Unfortunatelly, this format cannot be imported by any of the current genealogy software. On the other side, GEDCOM can be read without problems by most of today's programs.

"Database to CSV" allows to back-up data from database(Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server) in the form of CSV files. Each table data is stored in a separate CSV file. This projects has the intent to take any file that has a header and any number of lines, take out the blank lines, the carriage return and the line feed, given as delimitation the "project number" format and generates a new clean file.
