ShadowsocksX-NG is the new ShadowsocksX, a secure socks5 proxy for accessing restricted sites or services on macOS. ShadowsocksX-NG was created separately from the original implementation as there had been too much unused code and dependencies of the ss-local source code in the original that had to be maintained. As such it was difficult to update. ShadowsocksX-NG has just a copy of ss-local from Homebrew, and its GUI code has been rewritten in Swift.
