The Kubernetes (K8S) provider is used to interact with the resources supported by Kubernetes. The provider needs to be configured with the proper credentials before it can be used. Both backward and forward compatibility with Kubernetes API is mostly defined by the official K8S Go library (prior to 1.1 release) and client Go library which we ship with Terraform. Terraform providers for various cloud providers feature resources to spin up managed Kubernetes clusters on services such as EKS, AKS, and GKE. Such resources (or data sources) will have attributes that expose the credentials needed for the Kubernetes provider to connect to these clusters. To use these credentials with the Kubernetes provider, they can be interpolated into the respective attributes of the Kubernetes provider configuration block. The most reliable way to configure the Kubernetes provider is to ensure that the cluster itself and the Kubernetes provider resources can be managed with separate apply operations. -

Kube-shell: An integrated shell for working with the Kubernetes CLI. Under the hood kube-shell still calls kubectl. Kube-shell aims to provide ease-of-use of kubectl and increase productivity. You can use up-arrow and down-arrow to walk through the history of commands executed. Also, up-arrow partial string matching is possible. For e.g. enter 'kubectl get' and use up-arrow and down-arrow to browse through all kubectl get commands. You could also use CTRL+r to search from the history of commands. Details of the current context from kubeconfig is always readily displayed on the bottom toolbar. By pressing F4 button you can switch between the clusters and using F5 can switch between namespaces. -

kubie is an alternative to kubectx, kubens, and the k on prompt modification script. It offers context switching, namespace switching, and prompt modification in a way that makes each shell independent from others. It also has support for split configuration files, meaning it can load Kubernetes contexts from multiple files. You can configure the paths where Kubie will look for contexts, see the settings section. Kubie also has other nice features such as kubie exec which allows you to execute commands in a context and a namespace without having to spawn a shell and kubie lint which scans your k8s config files for issues and informs you of what they are. -

A docker-compose application manager that deploys and maintains a set of compose projects and provides secret management for them via Vault. Machinehead is designed for single-server hobbyists who want to make use of containers and modern GitOps practices but can't since most of the tools (such as kube-applier) focus on cluster technology such as Swarm and Kubernetes. In addition to this lack of tooling, managing sensitive secrets such as database credentials on single-server deployments doesn't have many solutions that integrate with Docker nicely. Machinehead is essentially a background process that is given one or more Git repositories that contain docker-compose.yml files. It will periodically attempt to pull from each reository and, if there is a change it will execute docker-compose up for it. This lets you update the configuration of your containerised applications simply by doing a git push! -

A network load-balancer implementation for Kubernetes
MetalLB is a load-balancer implementation for bare metal Kubernetes clusters, using standard routing protocols. Kubernetes does not offer an implementation of network load balancers (Services of type LoadBalancer) for bare-metal clusters. The implementations of network load balancers that Kubernetes does ship with are all glue code that calls out to various IaaS platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure…). If you’re not running on a supported IaaS platform (GCP, AWS, Azure…), LoadBalancers will remain in the “pending” state indefinitely when created. Bare-metal cluster operators are left with two lesser tools to bring user traffic into their clusters, “NodePort” and “externalIPs” services. Both of these options have significant downsides for production use, which makes bare-metal clusters second-class citizens in the Kubernetes ecosystem. MetalLB aims to redress this imbalance by offering a network load balancer implementation that integrates with standard network equipment. -
