Today, looking back more than 20 years, we see a clear pattern in the types of mechanisms built around the Internet Protocol, IP, which can be found throughout many layers of the OSI layer system, libp2p distils these mechanisms into flat categories and defines clear interfaces that once exposed, enable other protocols and applications to use and swap them, enabling upgradability and adaptability for the runtime, without breaking the API. -

...Stateless, content-addressable peer-to-peer communication networks, such as IPFS, and stateful consensus computers such as Ethereum, can provide part of the solution needed to obtain such answers. There are however at least 3 problems associated with the above-mentioned implementations. (1) the subjective nature of relevance, (2) difficulty in scaling consensus computers for over-sized knowledge graphs, (3) the lack of quality amongst such knowledge graphs. They are prone to various surface attacks, such as sybil attacks, and the selfish behavior of the interacting agents. In this document, we define a protocol framework for provable consensus computing of relevance, between content-addresable objects, which can be computed on GPUs. -
