The Baby X resource compiler (babyxrc) is a program to import binary data, such as images in most common formats, audio data, fonts, cursors, and text data, and output it as portable, compileable C source. Input is the raw binary resource data (.jpegs, .wavs etc) and a simple xml file which lists the files and the format in which they are to be output. It's very easy to maintain. To avoid users having to maintain a tool chain, a few basic transformations like resizing images or resampling audio files to match the rate required by the program are included. Output is clean, compileable ANSI C source which should be accepted by any C compiler. The Baby X resource compiler is portable, unlike the resource compilers which come packaged with monolithic IDEs. So it's far easier to maintain.

Umple is technology for Model-Oriented Programming. It adds abstractions such as UML associations, attributes, and state machines to object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, PHP and Ruby. A developer can use Umple in one of several ways. They can start with a pure model, containing only classes, associations, attributes and state machines, and then gradually add methods in one of the base languages to the Umple code base. Ccide reads a source program, in one of several programming languages, expands all embedded decision tables, and generates the new, expanded source. Ccidew processes C language programs directly. The script, ccide, uses ccidew and m4, to process BASIC, JAVA, CC, C++, BASH, QB, VB, and EX(euphoria), source files containing embedded decision tables. Ccide checks all conditions once and only once, avoiding side effects. Ccide checks tables for conflicts and other errors.
