The encryption uses AES-256 twice so it is harder to crack than the industry standard pure AES 256bit implementation (theoretical key size is 512 bit). The software writes encrypted data in ASCII text format which can be cut'n'pasted to messaging apps or to emails and back to Inner Circle when decrypting data. This is a chat system composed of a TCP/IP server daemon and its corresponding java client. You can chat with other peers in clear text or AES password-based encryption on your own computer network. The AES encryption and decryption is based on 128 bit key which is reached by padding the resulting SHA256 from your provided password.
