Grip is a GTK-based CD-player and CD-ripper / MP3 encoder. It has the ripping capabilities of cdparanoia built in, but can also use external rippers (such as cdda2wav). Encoder presets are provided for oggenc, bladeenc, lame, l3enc, xingmp3enc, mp3encode, gogo, flac, faac and opusenc. The main developers can be found in #grip on Libera (irc.libera.chat).

...It has a rename file utility, not only for mp3 files. It has an utility panel to create playlists, re-organize files in folders with the name format you prefer, an utility to optimize the CD disk space. This program was written in 2002, so I don't remember much about it ... but I used it a lot, as much as my close friends. I decided only now (shame on me) to share it with everybody in the world. Rippix
ripperX fork to clean the code and port to GTK+ 3
Rippix is a fork of ripperX, a fast and easy to use CD ripper. While ripperX does it's job good to rip and encode songs from a CD, it uses a rather outdated user interface. Rippix tries to fill this gap. This includes porting Rippix to GTK+ 3. Additionally, many deprecated code gets rewritten and documentation will be added. 'Why a fork?' you might ask. Well, after some hacking on the ripperX code, it appeared to me that I had to do more modifications in order to port to GTK+ 3 conveniently than what could be appreciable by ripperX devs, like removing all the XPM images (including the logo) from the UI. -
