gPhoto is a program and library framework that lets users download pictures from their digital cameras. The libgphoto2 library gives you access to hundreds of models of digital cameras on several platforms.
GIT repo and Issue tracker lives at https://github.com/gphoto/ these days.
IM is a toolkit for Digital Imaging. IM is based on 4 concepts: Image Representation, Storage, Processing and Capture. The main goal of the library is to provide a simple API and abstraction of images for scientific applications.
pcdtojpeg converts PCD (Kodak Photo CD) image files into high quality JPEG images. Conversions are at the maximum available PCD resolution, and are fully color managed - no blown highlights or color casts. A C++ PCD decoder library is also available.
Most digital cameras produce EXIF files, which are JPEG files with extra tags that contain information about the image. The EXIF library allows you to parse an EXIF file and read the data from those tags.
Development has moved to https://github.com/libexif/. See https://libexif.github.io for more details.

OpenExif is an object-oriented library for accessing Exif formated JPEG image files. The toolkit allows creating, reading, and modifying the metadata in the Exif file. It also provides means of getting and setting the main image and the thumbnail image.
Library to correct optical lens defects and lens database
NOTE: We are moving this project to GitHub!
Digital photographs are not ideal. Of course, the better is your camera, the better the results will be, but in any case if you look carefully at shots taken even by the most expensive cameras equipped with the most expensive lenses you will see various artifacts. It is very hard to make ideal cameras, because there are a lot of factors that affect the final image quality, and at some point camera and lens designers have to trade one factor...
A powerful C++ class library for image manipulation
ImageStone is a powerful C++ class library for image manipulation. Its features include load, save, display, transformation, and nearly 100 special image effects. It can be used cross platform (includes Windows, Linux, Mac), and especially under windows it can be used as a DIB wrapper class.
Allows screen sharing over email, or through 'conversations' with contacts, so that when a contact receives a screenshot it's automatically displayed with its default image viewer.
libiptcdata is a standalone C-library for reading and writing the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) metadata contained in various data files such as images.
phpexiv2 is a wrapper for direct access from PHP to the Exiv2(exiv2.org) library. It allows to retrieve and change EXIF, IPTC and XMP digital photo information. As phpexiv2 is written in C++ and does not use system calls, it is faster than other methods.
HDRFlow is a framework to process high-dynamic range (HDR) and RAW images. It's written in C++, and is both cross-platform and hardware accelerated on modern GPUs.
DCRaw4J converts digital camera RAW image files into standard formats such as JPEG and 16-bit TIFF (linear or non-linear). DCRaw4J was inspired by David Coffin's dcraw; a C program that handles raw formats from over 200 cameras.
The goal of this project is to develop a library which implements reconstructive stereovision and stereo-correlation. In other terms, the goal of this library is to build a 3D model of a scene from two pictures of a same object taken from different angle
Akshara Malayalam OCR is a project for the development of an OCR for printed and handwritten documents in Malayalam language. The inspiration is from similar OCR softwares in other languages etc.

BLIX is a cross-platform set of Python extension modules and Python scripts for Blender (www.blender.org). These scripts add camera calibration, 3D reconstruction and rigid body orientation to Blender.
CameraTransfer is a GNUstep front-end to the gphoto2 library.
It is able to transfer files from the camera to the computer, delete files from the camera etc.
Manage sources of video (i.e., from a security camera), recording clips where motion has been detected, and allowing those clips to be replayed.
Variable lead-in/out time, motion detection, logging.
Java access to USB, currently using kernel 2.4 Linux-USB support. There is a "core" API for accessing USB devices, and simple tools including a USB viewer in Swing. Applications are being developed separately, including digital camera support.
