    GrowthRates

Calculate growth rates from microplate reader output

...It automates the calculation of growth rate parameters, including rates, lag times, maximum population density. Manual calculation of those parameters requires at least 5 minutes per well, or 32 hours for a 384 well plate. GrowthRates completely analyzes growth parameters in all 384 wells in under 5 minutes. CGR2 (Compare Growth Rates) is a statistical program specifically designed to assess the results of a growth rate experiment that has been analyzed using the program GrowthRates. The purpose of a statistical analysis is to establish our level of trust in both the data and in the conclusions we draw from that data. ...

Mutation Identification in Model Organism Genomes using Desktop PCs

...For most model organism genomes it lets the user carry out a complete analysis from unaligned genomic NGS read data to an annotated list of variants on a regular Desktop PC within a few hours. Its user-interface is beginner-friendly and designed to encourage geneticists to analyze NGS data themselves without the help of a trained bioinformatician.

    PASHA: Parallelized Short Read Assembly

One of the fastest parallel short read assemblers for large genomes.

...Moreover, PASHA achieves the fastest speed for all three datasets on a single CPU. For the human genome, PASHA achieves competitive assembly quality with ABySS and is able to complete the assembly in about 21 hours, which is about 2.38× faster than ABySS on the same hardware configurations.
