MASGAU Automatic Save Game Archive Utility - A backup utility that automatically detects and archives saved games and can then restore them.

This application is intended to make a diff files for the backup purposes. Imagine that you have a VM with 10GB vmdk file that you backup every day. So, you need to keep 100GB (let say 60GB with compression) for 10 days. However from those 10GB file only ~500MB is daily changed and you can shrink your backup storage to 15GB, if you keep only the daily difference. The BinDiff makes this job for you. Initially you make a full copy of vmfk file (let's say every month or two). That time you also make a hash file to track the block changes. You keep the hash file (which is small enough) and every day make a differential file from vmdk file that you keep on the backup storage. Profit! For the recovery BinDiff merges the latest available diff file with the initial vmdk file and gives you the full vmdk on that day. You can also make/check md5 checksums if necessary. Note that BinDiff tracks 4kB block changes only (VMware vmdk does it and HyperV I guess too).

Fpart is a tool that helps you sort file trees and pack them into bags (called "partitions"). It is developped in C and available under the BSD license. It splits a list of directories and file trees into a certain number of partitions, trying to produce partitions with the same size and number of files. The BackupTool was developed using Qt/C++ and the libraries QuaZip and zLib. It is a tool to help the backup control. The user can backup files and folders in .zip or .iso file. The backup contains date and time of its creation and the user can also write a description that will be saved inside the backup file. The software also offers a recovery tool from an existing backup (for .zip files) and the possibility of burning CD/DVD in case of .iso files. The version used in the project was: QuaZip 0.7.2 and zLib 1.2.8.
