    QuadRay-engine

Realtime raytracer using SIMD on ARM, MIPS, PPC and x86

QuadRay engine is a realtime raytracing project aimed at full SIMD utilization on ARM, MIPS, POWER and x86 architectures. The efficient use of SIMD is achieved by processing four rays at a time to match SIMD register width (hence the name). The rendering core of the engine is written in a unified SIMD assembler allowing single assembler code to be compatible with different processor architectures, thus reducing the need to maintain multiple parallel versions. At present, Intel...

    etherdfs

an ethernet-based file system for DOS

EtherDFS is an 'installable filesystem' TSR for DOS. It maps a drive from a remote computer (typically Linux-based) to a local drive letter, using raw ethernet frames to communicate. For years, I was using LapLink to transfer files between my various "retro" computers. It works, yes, but it's also annoyingly slow and requires constant attention. One day I thought, "Wouldn't it be amazing if all my PCs could share a common network drive, similarly to how NFS operates in the *nix world?". This...

XOSL with Documentation: is a COPY of the original XOSL project reorganized and documented. I, johneric, was the Admin of the original XOSL project starting in 2006 after Guert Vos disappeared. After 20 years, I am back to help you understand what XOSL was and still is. It is a legendary program that changed the way many of us booted our computers for the better. It can be installed to a FAT drive (such as your Windows drive) or its own dedicated partiton. XOSL is outdated on modern...

    Photo rotate

This program spins an image, and does a pulsating distortion.

Rotate pictures. You load a picture which is type png or jpeg. The program makes it rotate as if on a turntable, and keys D - K adjust the speed. And keys Z X are zoom, and keys C, V, B do a distortion. Key L is for load, S for save. Only the loading L works well. With spacers24.exe the up; left; right arrow keys are for loading pictures from the same folder. It works by scanning a picture in concentric circles, and producing a table of numbers which contains pixel colors and...

    ethflop

a DOS TSR that emulates a floppy disk drive over ethernet

ethflop is a DOS TSR that emulates a floppy disk drive. Such virtual floppy disk is, in fact, stored on a Linux server as a classic floppy image. All the communication between ethflop (the TSR) and ethflopd (the Linux daemon) is based on raw Ethernet. No need for any network configuration - the DOS PC only needs to have some kind of Ethernet adapter (physical or emulated, for example through PLIP) and a suitable packet driver.

    pFFh

    pFFh

a self-contained development environment for embedded systems.

pFFh is a programming language that allows you to launch applications on embedded systems safely, quickly and comfortably. pFFh runs on the target system, combining operation as a command interpreter and code compiler. We can say that pFFh behaves like an operating system on the board under development. All pFFh needs is a serial or USB-serial channel to communicate, and through it, receive and process console commands, either from a keyboard or from files sent from a desktop computer. At...

The program analyzes sound when you talk into a Headset microphone

...The headset microphone has to be plugged in Before starting the program, and adjustment of the distance to your mouth and your loudness is important. For a while it only worked for USB headsets, but at the moment it only works for Jack-plug headsets. So please try it with a Jack plug headset. The complete source code is included as an ASM file in 2 copies, one copy is ready for assembly with the Qeditor of free MASM32 package, and the other copy is ready for assembly with the free FASMW assembler. Using the ASM file one can try to make improvements to the sound-analyzing. I have removed from it one word which was triggering a false positive in Avast!

This is a basic, low-level library with pretensions to implementing features above and beyond (but not necessarily better than!) those implemented within the Standard C++ Library and the Boost Library. In particular data-flow based parallelism and a FIX-to Exchange-Protocol message translator that is blindingly fast! The source code has moved to GitLab: https://gitlab.com/jmmcg/libjmmcg

    libjpeg-turbo

    libjpeg-turbo

    SIMD-accelerated libjpeg-compatible JPEG codec library

libjpeg-turbo is a JPEG image codec that uses SIMD instructions (MMX, SSE2, NEON, AltiVec) to accelerate baseline JPEG compression and decompression on x86, x86-64, ARM, and PowerPC systems. On such systems, libjpeg-turbo is generally 2-6x as fast as libjpeg, all else being equal. On other types of systems, libjpeg-turbo can still outperform libjpeg by a significant amount, by virtue of its highly-optimized Huffman coding routines. In many cases, the performance of libjpeg-turbo rivals...
