    VoiceFixer

    VoiceFixer

    General Speech Restoration

VoiceFixer is a machine-learning framework for “speech restoration”: given a degraded or distorted audio recording — with noise, clipping, low sampling rate, reverberation, or other artifacts — it attempts to recover high-fidelity, clean speech. The architecture works in two stages: first an analysis stage that tries to extract “clean” intermediate features from the noisy audio (e.g. removing noise, denoising, dereverberation, upsampling), and then a neural vocoder-based synthesis stage that reconstructs a high-quality waveform from those features. Unlike many single-purpose noise reduction tools, VoiceFixer targets a “general speech restoration” problem (GSR), capable of handling multiple types of distortions at once, which makes it suitable for old recordings, phone-call audio, amateur voice recordings, or archival media. ...

    GPT Neo

    GPT Neo

An implementation of model parallel GPT-2 and GPT-3-style models

...This, as well as the fact that many GPUs became available to us, among other things, prompted us to move development over to GPT-NeoX. All evaluations were done using our evaluation harness. Some results for GPT-2 and GPT-3 are inconsistent with the values reported in the respective papers. We are currently looking into why, and would greatly appreciate feedback and further testing of our eval harness.

    Perceptual Similarity Metric and Dataset

    Perceptual Similarity Metric and Dataset

    LPIPS metric. pip install lpips

While it is nearly effortless for humans to quickly assess the perceptual similarity between two images, the underlying processes are thought to be quite complex. Despite this, the most widely used perceptual metrics today, such as PSNR and SSIM, are simple, shallow functions, and fail to account for many nuances of human perception. Recently, the deep learning community has found that features of the VGG network trained on ImageNet classification has been remarkably useful as a training loss for image synthesis. ...

    Paperless-ng

    Paperless-ng

A supercharged version of paperless, scan, index and archive docs

Paperless is a simple Django application running in two parts, a Consumer (the thing that does the indexing) and a Web server (the part that lets you search & download already-indexed documents). Paper is a nightmare. Environmental issues aside, there’s no excuse for it in the 21st century. It takes up space, collects dust, doesn’t support any form of a search feature, indexing is tedious, it’s heavy and prone to damage & loss.

    Old Photo Restoration

    Old Photo Restoration

Bringing Old Photo Back to Life (CVPR 2020 oral)

...Unlike conventional restoration tasks that can be solved through supervised learning, the degradation in real photos is complex and the domain gap between synthetic images and real old photos makes the network fail to generalize. Therefore, we propose a novel triplet domain translation network by leveraging real photos along with massive synthetic image pairs. Specifically, we train two variational autoencoders (VAEs) to respectively transform old photos and clean photos into two latent spaces. And the translation between these two latent spaces is learned with synthetic paired data. This translation generalizes well to real photos because the domain gap is closed in the compact latent space. Besides, to address multiple degradations mixed in one old photo, we design a global branch with a partial nonlocal block targeting to the structured defects, such as scratches and dust spots.

    SimSiam

    SimSiam

    PyTorch implementation of SimSiam

...The project introduces a minimalist approach to self-supervised learning that avoids negative pairs, momentum encoders, or large memory banks—key complexities of prior contrastive methods. SimSiam learns image representations by maximizing similarity between two augmented views of the same image through a Siamese neural network with a stop-gradient operation, preventing feature collapse. This elegant yet effective design achieves strong results in unsupervised learning benchmarks such as ImageNet without requiring contrastive losses. The repository provides scripts for both unsupervised pre-training and linear evaluation, using a ResNet-50 backbone by default. ...

    VITS

Conditional Variational Autoencoder with Adversarial Learning

VITS is a foundational research implementation of “VITS: Conditional Variational Autoencoder with Adversarial Learning for End-to-End Text-to-Speech,” a well-known neural TTS architecture. Unlike traditional two-stage systems that separately train an acoustic model and a vocoder, VITS trains an end-to-end model that maps text directly to waveform using a conditional variational autoencoder combined with normalizing flows and adversarial training. This architecture enables parallel generation (fast inference) while achieving speech quality that rivals or surpasses many two-stage systems. ...

    Transformer TTS

    Transformer TTS

Implementation of a Transformer based neural network

TransformerTTS is an implementation of a non-autoregressive Transformer-based neural network for text-to-speech, built with TensorFlow 2. It takes inspiration from architectures like FastSpeech, FastSpeech 2, FastPitch, and Transformer TTS, and extends them with its own aligner and forward models. The system separates alignment learning and acoustic modeling: an autoregressive Transformer is used as an aligner to extract phoneme-to-frame durations, while a non-autoregressive “ForwardTransformer” generates mel-spectrograms conditioned on text and durations. ...

ALIbaba's Collection of Encoder-decoders from MinD

...Pre-trained models for natural language understanding (NLU). We extend BERT to a new model, StructBERT, by incorporating language structures into pre-training. Specifically, we pre-train StructBERT with two auxiliary tasks to make the most of the sequential order of words and sentences, which leverage language structures at the word and sentence levels, respectively. Pre-trained models for natural language generation (NLG). We propose a novel scheme that jointly pre-trains an autoencoding and autoregressive language model on a large unlabeled corpus, specifically designed for generating new text conditioned on context. ...

    DrQA

    DrQA

Reading Wikipedia to Answer Open-Domain Questions

DrQA is an open-domain question answering system that reads large text corpora—famously Wikipedia—to answer natural language questions with extractive spans. It follows a two-stage pipeline: a fast document retriever first narrows down candidate articles, and a neural machine reader then predicts the exact answer span from those passages. The retriever relies on classic IR features (like TF-IDF and n-gram statistics) to remain lightweight and scalable to millions of documents. The reader is a neural model trained on supervised QA data to estimate start and end positions within a paragraph, and it can be adapted to new domains through fine-tuning or distant supervision. ...

    onnxt5

    Summarization, translation, sentiment-analysis, text-generation, etc.

...The simplest way to get started for generation is to use the default pre-trained version of T5 on ONNX included in the package. Please note that the first time you call get_encoder_decoder_tokenizer, the models are being downloaded which might take a minute or two. Other tasks just require to change the prefix in your prompt, for instance for summarization. Run any of the T5 trained tasks in a line (translation, summarization, sentiment analysis, completion, generation) Export your own T5 models to ONNX easily. Utility functions to generate what you need quickly. Up to 4X speedup compared to PyTorch execution for smaller contexts.

    Text2Video

Software tool that converts text to video for more engaging experience

...So I imagined, "What if there was a tool that turns text into something more engaging such as a video, wouldn't it improve my learning experience?" I created a prototype web application that takes text as an input and generates a video as an output. I plan to further work on the project targeting young college students who are aged between 18 to 23 because they tend to prefer learning through videos over books based on the survey I found. The technologies I used for the project are HTML, CSS, Javascript, Node.js, CCapture.js, ffmpegserver.js, Amazon Polly, Python, Flask, gevent, spaCy, and Pixabay API.
