NARS2000: An Experimental APL Interpreter
APL is an arrary-oriented language initially conceived in the 1960s by Kenneth E. Iverson, IBM Fellow and 1979 ACM Turing Award recipient. It is ideally suited to computer programming because it subsumes the tedious aspects of the job allowing the programmer to concentrate on the heart of the project. calculate preceding generations for Conway's Game of Life
This program in APL calculates preceding generations for a given generation in Conway's Game of Life. They are small, 4x4 to 13x13 and there are periodic boundary conditions which eliminates many configurations. The APL interpreter that is required to run the program is available as a free demo version.
