Open Source APL Software

A Perl based interpreter for a language which is a blend of Forth and APL. The power of lang5 stems from its arrays operations in conjunction with the underlying Forth programming paradigm of bottom up programming.

Cotrugli is an experimental accounting application written in GNU-APL that uses PostgreSQL to manage its database. At this writing, Seventh Month 2021, it will create a trial balance and allow one to adjust that that trial balance using an application program interface (API). Users well versed in GNU-APL can enter and adjust that trial balance by using the API. There is much work to be done and I am looking for volunteers.

This program in APL calculates preceding generations for a given generation in Conway's Game of Life. They are small, 4x4 to 13x13 and there are periodic boundary conditions which eliminates many configurations. The APL interpreter that is required to run the program is available as a free demo version.

APL is an arrary-oriented language initially conceived in the 1960s by Kenneth E. Iverson, IBM Fellow and 1979 ACM Turing Award recipient. It is ideally suited to computer programming because it subsumes the tedious aspects of the job allowing the programmer to concentrate on the heart of the project.
