Q&A with TradingView: Accessible, User-Friendly And Free Of Charge

By Community Team

Are you an individual investor with a small private website looking for some accessible software to display the quotes needed for your analysis? Or are you an established platform for market analysis on the look-out for a more sophisticated technology to provide your numerous users with market data and technology? Widgets by TradingView are mighty enough to get all of that sorted once and for all.

Who is TradingView?

TradingView is a charting platform and social network for traders and investors from around the world. It’s visited by 30M+ people monthly: traders, investors, researchers, and analysts use the platform to pursue their trading strategies or just watch market trends and be informed.

The company came from a simple idea: trading should be open to everyone. Incorporated in 2013, the team moved the company to Chicago a couple of years later to compete in the TechStars accelerator program, where they won the class pitch and raised seed financing. With a history of building advanced trading products from the founders’ time creating MultiCharts – a high-performance desktop trading software – the early TradingView centered on making financial charts for the web. Since then the platform has gained a huge following thanks to its elegant charting tools and versatile market data available for everyone. Today they’re leading a new movement in social charting, one where everyday investors and traders come together to look first, then leap. With offices in New York and London, TradingView continues to expand globally – focused on its mission of building a space where anyone can succeed through the financial markets and enjoy the process along the way.

And these guys really mean what is described above:

“Our product is what makes us special. It comes above everything and every single one of us. Everything we do should be to the betterment of the platform and its users.”

We managed to have an in-depth conversation with Rauan Khassan from TradingView – he  told us everything to know about their widgets, and we’re happy to share it all with you.

Do I need to be a professional trader to use TradingView widgets?

Not at all, our widgets are extremely user-friendly and easy to navigate. Our goal is to make market data as accessible as possible. We think that the times of ‘professional’ Wall Street tools with a monopoly on the sacred knowledge of market movements and access to complex trading terminals have passed – it’s time to bring trading to the masses. This is exactly what we had in mind when designing our widgets, we want them to be easily used by anyone who wants to work with markets.

What if a widget doesn’t go with my website design?

That’s not a problem. You see, TradingView widgets are very flexible in terms of customization – you can choose how a widget will look, set its size, color, transparency, and info it will show. We understand that the amount of time and effort dedicated to developing a website can be huge, so we want our product to complement it, not meddle with it.

What data can the widgets display?

We have full market coverage in terms of geography as well as asset classes: cryptocurrencies, stocks, futures, and many more – the choice of symbols and stats to display depends on your website specifics. By the way, did I mention that all our widgets come with free data?

How do I install TradingView widgets?

Our widgets are extremely easy to install – you just choose a widget, customize it to go with the web design and your intricate trader’s taste, copy the code and paste it on your page – voilà! As you can see, you don’t need a team of developers to install widgets on your website. You know what they say, simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Can widgets be installed on any web page?

TradingView widgets work in any framework which supports HTML and CSS, so yes, they can be installed on virtually any kind of web page.

How much is it to use the widgets?

As I mentioned earlier, we at TradingView believe that markets should be accessible for everyone, so we do not charge anything for using our widgets – anyone is free to open our website and choose what works best. No invoices, no paperwork, no signing any kinds of forms – we want you to work with markets, not for markets.

What kinds of widgets do you have?

There is a big variety of widgets ranging from the Advanced Real-Time charts where users are able to do the most complicated technical analysis to the Economic calendar that lets you watch all important upcoming events. There’s even the Snaps widget that helps you keep track of what’s going on crypto and stock markets. One of our most popular widgets is the Ticker tape widget – it’s a stock exchange-style running ticker that looks awesome on any page and takes up very limited space, all in the best traditions of good old Wall Street.

Can these widgets be installed in a mobile app?

Sure, our widgets are adaptable in terms of implementation, so you can use them on the website or in the mobile app where available space is limited. Widgets on mobile devices work exactly the same as on a web page, but they let you place your trading activity in your pocket and take it where you feel most inspired and productive.

What if I don’t want to display TradingView branding?

For such cases, we provide various whitelabel and co-branding options. You can place your own brand or get rid of the branding for good, no problem, just let us know – we are always happy to help you find the best solution for your website.

Phew, that was really specific. In our humble opinion, this interview looks exhaustive enough, but should you still have some questions left, feel free to travel across TradingView website — there you will find latest quotes, breaking market news, and piles of other content. Indeed, he who owns the information, owns the world. That works for markets too.
