Netumo is a cloud monitoring platform that monitors websites, internet hosts, domains, servers, and SSL certificates. Monitoring is done at a stipulated time interval typically every couple of minutes. Whenever the content returned does not match the expected continent Netumo fires a notification event via Email, SMS, Twitter, Slack, or Microsoft Teams.
SourceForge had an opportunity to chat with Anthony Spiteri, the CEO & co-founder of Netumo, to understand the benefits of the solution and why monitoring is vital to succeeding with an online business.

What inspired you to build Netumo
We have helped various companies build and maintain their online presence and one weak point we always noticed is that companies forget to renew web domains, the certificate expires and systems fail. When a customer reports an issue, systems would have been out for some time already. This adds pressure on the IT administrators to get systems up and running quicker and leads to revenue loss.
What does Netumo stand for
Netumo is derived from the Roman god Nettuno who navigates the sea. Netumo navigates the internet to ensure plain sailing of domains, certificates, and websites. Netumo keeps a constant eye on your domains, servers, certificates, and websites and notifies you when something is wrong.
How critical is monitoring
Monitoring is key to one’s online success. It’s the only way to ensure the least possible RTO and higher uptime ratings. All website owners should have a business continuity plan with metrics and steps clearly defined to return to normality in any circumstance. This is required both from a business point of view but most importantly from a compliance point.
What is the RTO
RTO stands for Recovery Time Objective. In any outage having the shortest RTO is of the utmost importance ensuring that your systems are up and running in the shortest time possible. This is only possible if you are immediately notified as soon as the outage occurs, and having a clearly defined plan with clear responsibilities on how to restore systems in working order.
What makes Netumo stand out
Netumo is designed to be simple to use enabling both tech-savvy and also the normal website owner to set up a monitor without any complex scripting and other complex setups.
Netumo is cost-effective, with the best features for the money that you can get from a monitoring service. With our integrated notification options such as email, SMS, Twitter, Slack, or Microsoft Teams we can reach out pretty much every team.
Netumo is an integrated solution that offers uptime monitoring, response time monitoring, SSL certificate expiry monitoring, and domain monitoring all available in a simple to use interface.
Who are the winners for Netumo
I would say the biggest winners are IT administrators and MSPs. These are the guys that are responsible for systems and they get the heat when systems fail. Being notified immediately gives you time to rectify the situation before it gains attention. Netumo also can give you heads up notifications to make sure certificates and domains are renewed on time.
