Patrol the Streets and Enforce the Law
Rope Hero: Vice Town is a free-to-play mobile action title from Naxeex Ltd. It’s a 3D, single-player third-person shooter with light RPG mechanics that puts you in the role of a masked vigilante who moves around the city using a grappling rope. This entry continues the Rope Hero saga, but like earlier releases it suffers from awkward controls and frequent in-game advertisements.
Gameplay at a Glance
You play as the Rope Hero, a vigilante who relies on a grappling hook and rope for Spider-Man-like traversal rather than supernatural powers. There isn’t a tightly woven main plot — instead the game offers an open playground where you accept missions and respond to events as you discover them. Combat combines hand-to-hand moves with firearms and explosives, and you have full freedom to choose how aggressive or lawbreaking you want to be. Attacking civilians or causing major disruptions will quickly draw the attention of the city’s police force.
While the game aims for a sandbox feel similar to Grand Theft Auto, it’s simplified and graphically less polished. The world is large enough to explore for extended sessions, but it isn’t as detailed or interactive as higher-budget open-world titles.
Activities and Rewards
- Take on assorted side jobs and missions, from racing challenges to taking down criminal rings.
- Visit stores and kiosks inside accessible buildings to buy ammo, boosts, vehicle upgrades, and cosmetic items.
- Hunt for hidden collectibles scattered across the map and complete repeatable actions that unlock achievements.
- Discover mini-games and timed challenges on the map that test survival, speed, and precision.
Completing missions and finding collectibles generally earns in-game cash. You can spend it on weapons, health and stamina restoratives, vehicles, and alternative hero outfits that may alter abilities. Some upgrades and items are also gated behind optional ads.
Multiplayer and Social Features
There is no multiplayer option — no PvP arenas or cooperative play. The experience is strictly single-player, but the amount of content and variety of activities can keep solo players occupied for a while despite the lack of social modes.
Controls and Performance Issues
The control scheme relies on virtual joysticks and on-screen buttons, but users often report problems:
- Character movement and camera input can feel sluggish or poorly synchronized, making precise navigation difficult.
- A slow or laggy camera hampers aiming and gunplay, so ranged combat can become frustrating.
- Ads are intrusive and can interrupt gameplay frequently, sometimes even while exploring the city.
These issues reduce the game’s polish and can make longer play sessions feel repetitive or irritating, especially when precision is needed.
Verdict
Rope Hero: Vice Town is a solid pick if you want a free superhero-themed mobile action game with open-world elements and plenty of side content. It captures the chaotic fun of sandbox crime games at a budget level, but clumsy controls and persistent advertising keep it from reaching its full potential. If you can tolerate the rough edges, there’s still plenty to do in the city.
