Is there a configuration option in alpine or in pine that allows me
prune by year instead of by month? If not there should be one.
I prefer not to have 12 pruning folder for year: I kept 8 years email,
if I use pruning as it is, I would have 8*12=96 sent folders, a big
trouble when I want to search email.

reason: pine is a continues effort and have a lot of historical users. discussion on comp.mail.pine is not only in topic but also informs everyone who uses pine that there is a new project on it.

It is better if alphine can recognize the multiple language versions of a ldap record.
e.g. currently it is:
Surname: Zhang
GivenName: Weiwu
sn;lang-zh: 张
givenName;lang-zh: 韡武
Would be better if it is according to RFC about language modifier:
Surname: Zhang
GivenName: Weiwu
Surname (in Chinese): 张
GivenName (in Chinese): 韡武.

I second the idea of not using re-alpine but with a different naming suggestion.
considered calling it alpine+ instead of re-alpine? Not only to shorten it or to make it top alphabetic list but also shows you do it better (with a plus symbol) (positive) instead of doing it again (negative, "why yet-another???")
we are not real pine, right?.

Thanks for your support. I could not understand it but the fix does work for me (using encoding convertfrom utf-8).
Reason I could not understand it: I used to code in php and from there the data obtained from ldap search is UTF-8. I especially don't know what sense it make to convert from utf-8 when current locale is utf-8, which means converting from utf-8 to utf-8 solves the problem! But...

This problem is best explained with the screenshot I attached.
In my case all Chinese characters are broken, I think other multibyte UTF-8 string data should also be broken. Easily reproducible, we have this problem on Windows as well as Linux (where the screenshot was taken). The screenshot was taken from a system with UTF-8 locale setting.

It's not that simple, the change to kompozser to not to remove xml header must be done together with this change: support style for:
....
For other parts, like XML validation (is it allowed to have in ?) can be left for user to decide.

You must read the above with a fixed-width font in order to see what I mean.

Hi. In vim there is a formating option "w". Quote from vim online help:
Trailing white space indicates a paragraph continues in the next line. A line that ends in a non-white character ends a paragraph.
This format option is often (99%) used together with another "auto-format" option, the effect is explained here:
If I have the following text with 35 character hard line-wrap and have "w"...
