Attached is the patchfile that I use in the macport of freeimage. It is the only thing being patched for that release. In it, it properly cleans up the makefile to provide both osx 10.4 and 10.3.9 builds in the apple prescribed manner (use gcc4, use -isystem and -isysroot, build and link everything in as similar a manner possible, use -0s, etc). Well... since you guys seem to be on extended holiday, I've gone and made a MacPort for freeimage that patches up everything and makes it easy to build and install on OSX. I'll prolly talk to the FreeBSD port maintainer to get it updated as well.
