More details would be helpful, to say the least. What version of geek.menu are you trying to run? On what version of Windows? Where is geek.menu installed? Can you post the geekmenu.ini file to this thread?.

  • Followup: RE: Google Chrome not working

The appropriate place for this is probably not this forum, but the Google Portable Chrome forum. Unless clicking directly on the .exe from an explorer window somehow actually does work, but starting from geek.menu does not- if that's the case (relatively improbable) let me know.

  • Followup: RE: Remove (Documents, etc.) Icons

Well, you definitely can't do it in PA, you can't currently do it in geek.menu either, although this will be something that can be controlled with themes at some point in the future.

The values aren't in the locale file by default- no reason not to add them. As mentioned above, you can grab the text above directly out of the options.. advanced options.. advanced tab, or from the documentation at [http://geek-menu.sourceforge.net/documentation/guidetothehiddenunderbelly.htm][1] [1]: http://geek-menu.sourceforge.net/documentation/guidetothehiddenunderbelly.htm.

  • Followup: RE: Help

geek.menu is not a "Portable App" in the sense that it is run through the PA Suite. It is a replacement for the portableApps menu itself (they can co-exist quite happily). geek.menu should be installed in the root of the drive, and then you can run the "startGeekMenu.exe" file from the root of the drive.

  • Followup: RE: Reorganize Document folders

This is done by editing your locale file- the information on how to do this is shown in the options.. advanced options.. advanced tab: *** Locale file settings *** Custom directory locations can be defined for the directory buttons (documents, music, etc) through the locale file loaded. Here is an example: [FORM_MAIN] LOCATION_DOCUMENTS=$TRUECRYPTDRIVE$:\work...

  • Followup: RE: Upgrades and Categories

Paul- The Windows integration plugin now handles all the stuff that modifies your Windows desktop, like PortableFonts, modifying the system path, adding "Send To" shortcuts and updating the "places bar" for windows XP - i have a strange question for you- do you have a file named (after renaming) gmpi.wintegration.txt or is it gpmi.wintegration.dll. I fixed a naming...

  • Followup: RE: Upgrades and Categories

Paul, I actually saw this on my system for the first time today, but haven't reproduced it regularly yet. Can you do me a favor and rename the wintigration.dll file in the plugins directory under geek.menu to gmpi.wintigration.txt for a few days (you'll lose windows integration, of course) and see if it has any impact on the issue you're seeing?.

  • Followup: RE: Project back in development

@aslongasitsfree: not really sure what you're looking for here. The whole reason geek.menu exists is because of the slow pace of development of PA- there's not really any way to build this as an "add-on" to PA. John Haller (the PA developer) has access to the code of geek.menu, and my enthusiastic permission to fold it into the main PA release. You can certainly uninstall geek.menu...
