Besides "auto-completion", Kile also has "abbreviations". You probably want to create an abbreviation file with the long strings you use often. The abbreviation expansion is activated by a keyboard shortcut. The manual has more details.

This has actually worked for me. Although KDvi has broken the ForwardDVI feature a few times.

If you can't run latex from the command-line, then you can't run it from Kile. However the script you are using
uses pdflatex, if that works then you should use the PDFLaTeX in Kile too. Note that /use/local/package/bin is not a standard directory, so perhaps it is just not in your PATH.

Jeroen.

Actually, that is not true. If you compile from source, you can install as a normal user too.
Usually this is the best way to do it:
./configure --prefix=$HOME/.kde

If you open a file from the menu: File->Open you can
select the filter type: "All Files". From the sidebar you can only open standard LaTeX files.

We don't use the SourceForge bug tracker. All bugs reports should be filed at bugs.kde.org.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Do you know that you can define your own BibTeX tool? Go to Settings->Configure Kile, go to the build tools config page and edit the BibTeX entry.

It is unlikely that the autosave bug is responsible (however do try out version 1.9rc1, the bug is fixed in this version), since this only kicks in after 10 minutes.
If you start kile from the command-line, is there any debug output?

Jeroen.

Kile _was_ a gnuplot frontend. The frontend now lives a separate life: Qgfe.

This means that the RPM doesn't match your environment. Building from source is the best choice in this case. The kdelibs-devel and qt-devel packages can be installed like any other RPM, they should be on the CD/DVD or online update server.

Jeroen.
