I built one a couple years ago using Lamppix ( http://lamppix.tinowagner.com/ ). This *may* work for x86 based macs, but certainly not for power line of macs. You should do some searching around on the Knoppix site ( http://www.knoppix.org/ ) for other LAMP options, since this hasn't been updated in many years. Using a LiveCD for demos is very impressive. Speed is incredibly fast, since...

@heppner
First off, this is a thread from 2001, so your attempt at humor fails entirely. Secondly, we do need to know what version of phpWebSite and what module you are referring to and it's version.

I'm not entirely certain why you've posted here. I've been noticing that this forum gets an increasing number of posts entirely unrelated to phpWebSite.
This forum is for open discussion of issues related to phpWebSite. More information on phpWebSite can be found at the official site http://phpwebsite.appstate.edu.
An example of a relevant question would be:

The command line client under linux is called sftp and is packaged with openssh. Putty has a utility called PSFTP I believe, and it is command line based. Both of these are easily found and freely available. I'll let you do the google search.

Actually, I'm modifying my statement. I didn't read closely enough. Hopefully the pear files help someone ;)
Anyhow, here is the fix:
Edit the following file:
/home/coastalwaterftp/www/oldsite/core/Core.php
Change line 30:
include_path='.:/home/coastal/public_html/lib/pear/';
to this:
include_path='.:/home/coastalwaterftp/www/oldsite/lib/pear/';
Easy fix. Little tired today...

You are missing your pear files. They should be located in your install directory under lib/pear. I've created a file release for you under https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=15539&package_id=136611 since it appears this has been deleted and/or not included with your install of phpWebSite.
Download the package called 'phpWebSite 0.10.2 PEAR'
To install:
Place tar...

MySQL 5 works great with 0.10.x. If you have any issues, just post here. It is HIGHLY advisable to create a database dump of your existing database.

The following page, on the community wiki will help:
http://phpwebsite-comm.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=Installation_Guide
If you have never done the upgrade manually, just hop onto IRC on irc.freenode.net join #phpwebsite There are many people available there to help with questions. While there were a couple outstanding bugs with php5, I think we have all those squashed now...
