    NST: Maybe I've done something wrong, but are there any plans to support snort 2.8.4 with NST 1.8.x? I've dropped netbios and web-misc from my NST snort ruleset since they fail using new keywords available (supposely?) only in snort 2.8.4. Later, V.

  • One sniffer feeding snort, ntop et al

    If I've missed something, I'm willing to be wrong but, right now we have to run multiple sniffer interfaces for tools like ntop, snort, et al. We could (in theory) drop fewer packets and reduce system overhead by having a single sniffer that could feed multiple tools. A common file is one solution.   • snort 2.8.3+ with preprocessor rules enabled

    Despite the smtp header overflow problem being fixed in snort, 2.8.3 (supposedly), pre processor rules would be helpful.
