The included minimal working example sorts the entries in the bibliography after citing order, not nyt (even setting that option does not help). Unfortunately this does not happen for other users on de.comp.text.tex. Where can I start debugging here? The package versions used here are:

As reported in http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=250049 mpm ships with a lot of 3rd party libraries, which is a bad idea. Currently you have a security vulnerability in expat (see http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2009-2625) and should thus give packagers of distributions the possibility to use the system libraries. They usually know how to handle those dependencies...

mpm is available in the Gentoo Linux package repository, but installing it along side with mpc (a music player) will collide with /usr/bin/mpc, so those packages are mutually exclusive in Gentoo. Is it possible to rename the mpc executable in MiKTeX?.

Sorry, no time to debug this with too much effort. On our side I disabled the test suite when wxwindows is enabled, maybe the user who reported the problem will go deeper.

I was talking about a terminal emulation. :) Now I got it you talked about a Gnuplot terminal. Anyway, running the steps mentioned by Hans-Bernhard, I get a 512 page PostScript file which looks sane and no failure for the make check run. You surely don't want a 15MB file as attachment...
