Services for AMFPHP seem to work fine, but there's a bug in AMFPHP's browser for RecordSet.
Using the AMFPHP browser, I can check the MYSQL query. For example:
SELECT * FROM `userInfo` WHERE `username` = 'test';
When the `username` specified is not present in the database, this query will result in an "empty-result" from MYSQL.

I suppose this is a PHP trouble, not with AMFPHP per se. Include the following line into your php code before calling the retrieval call.
mysql_query("character_set_results=utf8");

This was a serious bug. But we managed to put a rope around such crashes by using try/catch functions. If you see some pop-up windows, you will know there is some problem with your connectivity. Please make a note of all pop-ups when you are making a bug report.
