I am asking if the simple spreadsheet part of groupware has (or will have) the following abilities.
1 a shared spreadsheet is viewable by assigning read-only access to a selected number of authenticated users
2. read only access may be further limited to separated regions of a commonly shared spreadsheet
3. write function to input data can also be limited to specific regions of a co.

I would hope to use the simple spreadsheet feature of simple groupware, because I believe that spreadsheets are a common interface to share data gathering and viewing, but the tool is notorious for living only on separate client software installations so that spreadsheets have to be "passed' around and then they lag in representing shared reality.
