There is no obvious way to select sound card and sound system (jack, pulse, alsa, portaudio or similar). This should be added to the UI. Most more serious audio users I know working with jack have also a second soundcard. Jack/Pulse seems currently to be the only possibility to externally force to go to the second card (something I can live with but users who don't use jack/pulse certainly not).

Canorus is hosted on Berlios mainly. The Wiki and an introduction is on http://www.canorus.org.
Basically we have organized our code into core (UI independent, import/export is separate), control (might contain some signal/slot dependencies on Qt, interface for physical stuff like midi) and UI itself (User interface, Widgets, Drawables for the score view)...

There was a i686 version on some developer ML/forum, where I read that several adaptions to the UI had to be made. Unfortunately of no use for me on x86_64 plattform to even try. It's also not from the stable (enigmail) branch.

kguitar should build on windows provided you make the hazzle to install all requirements (kde3/qt3 and development files as well as tse3 and development files, mingw compiler).
If porting work to KDE4 (or better only Qt4) should ever be done it will be a bit easier to get it running on windows as for Qt4 is easier to get and install.

kguitar was in Mandriva contrib 2009.0. Recently it was completely removed from Mandriva (I have no idea exactly why). KDE3 support was announced to be dropped by Mandriva 2010.
Concerning your problem: Install developer files of kde3 (-devel) and recompile. Alternatively you could download the 2009.0 src.rpm archive and "urpmi" it (this installs all needed packages to compile...

Additional side note: KDE3 support for my distribution is as well as kguitar itself no longer officially supported. The plan is to remove KDE3 completely 2010! I probably can't stop this process.
