I did some more research on this using file unlocker during an xpe offline boot session and it appears what is locking the C Drive is the "System Volume Information" folder. I stopped the lock with unlocker and could then ghost the hard drive. Later, I deleted the files inside the system volume folder and that seemed to work also. I need to do some more research with shadow copy etc, but will...

thank you for your great work. ghost32 v11, XPE 1.0.7, vista 32bit sp2 no longer works. Gives error: "A source volume could not be locked as it is in use by another process. Do you wish to attempt to force a dismount on the volume? ALL OPEN HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID" I can ghost D Partition ok.
