This may not be properly a bug with rlabplus, but it is likely to soon render the package obsolete.
Already on my Ubuntu 9.04 system, flex is at 2.5.35, and rlabplus won't install because of it.
$ ./configure --with-pgplot=pgplot/
...
checking for flex... rlabplus requires flex version 2.5.33 or lower
no
...
It then builds, but then refuses to install
$ make install.

I have implemented this. It's not beautiful, but it works.
The changes are now in the version control system (CVS). I'll make a new release soon.

Instead of "text" I could have a column "html".
I'll do it if it's easy to do with Java. It might well be.
