i am dropping this idea for now. not a simple matter to convince an interpreter to run a script that is not a flat file. not worth the trouble.

i cannot reproduce this behaviour on gentoo or ubuntu.
maybe a mac window manager thing?.

let me clarify. the scripts will not change, they have to remain compatible with perl/python etc. i am just going to provide a built in editor with some helper functions that make script construction easier.
things like wizards and defaults to insert into the script. ie. using a dialog to adjust options for a STOCH indicator then inserting the string into the script along with the return code...
