There appears to be issues with characters being to close togther in the SoftRaster, which OpenGL fixes, however OpenGL as well as SoftRaster both have issues with certain characters, Particularly W/w's and M/m's looking like U's and N's.

The method used in 1.7.2 was a hack which caused other issues to crop up.
The current method is accurate to the hardware, and does not have those issues, and was infact the intended course for the official VBA code (as this change was made in the 1.8 source code)

this is because the MBC2 format is not explicitly supported properly in may of the emulators.
the official size is 256byte, but others either do not do the nybble so end up with 512b, or clamp to 8K.

IR Linking never really worked with anything on the GBC itself. and exactly which emulators use IR Linking, because i've never seen any.
