I'm sorry to hear that its a serious issue. You could try passing the real location with cmake parameters or just symlinking. simons dependency on phonon is non-existing. It just looks for it, because the KDE libraries link to it and simon links to kde. So bypassing the tests should work just as well.

You also need the phonon development package (look for phonon-dev).

You are missing some kde development packages. In this case it complains about Phonon.

Yes this key-to-activate thingy was already suggested once and would definitely be a nice addition. Didn't have time to implement it yet, tough.
The SVN version does indeed measure confidence scores but a new release is not planned anytime soon (at least not in the next one-two month. Still a lot left to do. Sorry...
