thanks for reporting this.
This is a known issue and will be fixed in the next release of the exporter.

I have added the 3ds Import plugin to the SourceForge site. You can also find it on xsinet along with a bunch of other plugins.

the dotXSI format evolved considerably since version 1.0. A completly new exporter would need to be written to handle dotXSI version 1.0
As a workaround, export to dotXSI version 3.0 and import into Softimage 3D. Then re-export in dotXSI v1.0.

make sure your environment settings on the machine you are using uses the period as a decimal separator and not a comma. otherwise numbers will be written like this in the dotXSI
1,50000
instead of
1.50000
that should fix it.

I'm pleased to say that a plugin for Max that reads
dotXSI is now available at no charge from Softimage. For
details visit www.softimage.com/connect.
We aren't going open source with the importer as we did
with the exporter for internal reasons - but we will
listen to feedback sent in this forum or directly to
converters@softimage.com.
Enjoy!

I started a feature where bipeds would be exported as a full IK rig. But didnt get the time to finish it.
Are you looking for exporting CS stuff to XSI chains or just regular MAX bones to XSI chains?.

we try to concentrate first on tools that help our customer's pipeline and the dotXSI Exporter was something most customers needed right away.
We made the source code for this exporter available through SourceForge so that the dotXSI format is better understood and more widely used. And hoped that someone would jump on-board and create an importer.
The new FTK with the high-level Semantic...

Hi ingenu,
The dotXSI file format can describe animation in 2 ways. The standard way is using function curves that affect the position, rotation, scaling etc. These FCurves are described by the SI_FCurve template and are attached to the object it is affecting. When you load this dotXSI in SoftimageXSI, you will see the animation.
The other way to describe animation is using...
